YAMA- "ASTEYA"
Asteya literally means “non-stealing”, yet another example of a yama that appears to be fairly straightforward.
However, the interpretation of this yama can be expanded to include not only the act of stealing, but the very desire to steal.
The stronger the desire to steal, the more permissible this act becomes.
Once you have convinced yourself that the acquisition of something by dishonest means is acceptable, you are better able to shed the guilt associated with stealing, and are thus more likely to do it.
